A Bergen County duo face human trafficking charges after a woman was held captive for 12 days and forced into prostitution at their Edgewater home, prosecutors said Monday.
Tyrone Washington and Shameka Lambert were arrested Saturday, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
Washington forced the victim to engage in prostitution while holding her against her will at the same house he and Lambert shared with a young child, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement. The two were also charged with child endangerment.
Lambert, 28, and Washington, 33, were being held at the Bergen County jail ahead of a Wednesday morning court hearing.
