The $1 million Mega Millions ticket sold in New Jersey for Tuesday night’s record $677 million dollar Mega Millions drawing was purchased at a convenience store in Morris County.
The lucky ticket, which matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball, was bought at a 7-Eleven on Ridgedale Avenue in the Cedar Knolls section of Hanover.
In addition, seven tickets sold in New Jersey are third-prize winners – each matched four numbers and the Mega Ball. Two are worth $50,000 because the winners each spent an additional $1 to exercise the Megaplier option. The other five are valued at $10,000 apiece.
They were bought the following locations:
- Friendly Food Mart on North Blackhorse Pike in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township ($50,000)
- 7-Eleven on Morris Avenue in Union ($50,000)
- Twin Deli on North Park Street in East Orange
- Prime Place Convenience on 1st Street in Hoboken
- Corner Xpress Mart on Lawrenceville Pennington Road in Lawrence
- Laurel Market on Laurel Avenue in the West Keansburg section of Hazlet
- 7-Eleven on Route 37 west in Toms River
Tuesday’s winning numbers were 3, 45, 49, 61 and 69. The Mega Ball drawn was 9 and the Megaplier was 5x.
Friday’s jackpot is worth at least $900 million with a cash option of $513 million, making it the second-largest in U.S. lottery history. Ticket holders in California, Florida and Tennessee split a record $1.5864 billion Powerball prize following the Jan. 13, 2016, drawing.
In all, there were nine tickets sold across the country for Tuesday’s drawing that matched five numbers. Two were bought in Pennsylvania and one in New York
No one has hit the Mega Millions jackpot since 11 co-workers in Santa Clara, California split a $543 million prize on July 24. Since then the jackpot has rolled over 24 times.
A Mega Millions ticket costs $2. The odds of a ticket matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1. It’s a 1 in 12,607,306 shot to win the second prize of at least $1 million by matching five numbers.
Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held on Tuesday and Friday.
