Two New Jersey newlyweds had their wedding day interrupted by torrential downpours Saturday, causing the entire wedding party to get stranded in floodwaters before officers rescued them out of their vehicle.
The Bogota Police Department posted a video capturing the dramatic rescue to their Facebook page Saturday night, showing the bride in her wedding dress perched on top of a car surrounded by water that reached high enough to submerge the tires completely.
Bogota officers said in the post that the bride was stranded along with her husband and wedding party.
In a follow up post on Facebook Sunday afternoon, the department said they used their newest fleet addition “Humvee” to save the newlyweds and wished them all the best after an unexpected ending to their big day.
“Like we said, we hope the bride and groom had a great wedding day and we wish nothing but the best for them. If you know them, please pass that message along to them,” the post read.
NJ Advance Media reached out to the Bogota Police Department for further details, however Sgt. Geoffrey Cole was not immediately available to comment.
