Woman killed in house blaze during storm in North Jersey

A woman died after she was pulled from a house fire Tuesday night in Waldwick, authorities said.

The fire began about 6:40 p.m. in a home on Van Court, according to members of the Waldwick Fire Department. Fire Department Chief Michael Ferrara said he did not know if the fire was related to Tuesday’s storm.

“It’s still under investigation,” Ferrara said, declining to release further details.

The house was severely damaged and the fire took about 90 minutes to extinguish, the fire department reported on social media.

Firefighters from Midland Park, Hawthorne, Franklin Lakes, Allendale, Mahwah, Upper Saddle River and Ho-Ho-Kus and members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office responded.
