Porch package thieves wore FedEx disguise to hit N.J. houses, cops say

Two men disguised as FedEx employees stole packages off porches in an Ocean County town last week, authorities said.

Jomar Gonzalez, 28, of Paterson, and Raymond Severino, 23, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, were charged with conspiracy, identity theft and impersonation, Ocean Township police said in a statement.

Both men were wearing FedEx uniforms when police found them in a rented, white cargo van in the parking lot of CVS along Route 9 in the Waretown section of town, officials said. Police said they quickly learned that neither is employed by the courier delivery service.

Earlier, police received a call about the same van driving around Bryant Road in the Bay Haven section of town. A short time later, they spotted the van at CVS.

Gozalez and Severino were arrested May 8 and sent to the Ocean County jail.

Both have since been released, according to online jail records.
