A store employee was injured Thursday afternoon when an SUV crashed through the front of a Barnes & Noble store on Route 3 in Clifton.
Clifton Deputy Fire Chief Frank Prezioso said a female employee suffered a minor injury to her “lower body,” and that the driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Prezioso said he did not know how the crash occurred at this time, but said it was accidental.
Jason Pinter, an author and publisher with Polis Books, was at the store when the crash happened and shared photos on Twitter.
Holy sh*t: I was working at the B&N in Clifton, and a guy just drove his car through the storefront and crashed INTO the store. Thank god don’t seem to be any injuries. Car literally drove into the cash registers. Police on scene. pic.twitter.com/pGf1KqQxxK

Pinter said the car smashed into the register section where clerks were working.
The crash shattered two glass windows and left the awning above them hanging.
An employee at the store said she could not comment on the incident but said the store was closed as of 5 p.m.
A spokesperson for Barnes and Noble said they could not comment on the incident and directed all questions to the Clifton Police.
