N.J. man admitted tri-state bank robbery spree, feds say

An Elizabeth man arrested last year in connection with a string of bank robberies along the East Coast pleaded guilty in a Newark federal courtroom Tuesday to four of them, prosecutors said.

Israel Cosme, 36, admitted robbing TD Bank branches in New Jersey, New York and Maryland over a two-week period in January 2017, according to a statement from the office of U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito.

During his Jan. 15, 2017, robbery of a bank branch in Little Ferry, prosecutors said, Cosme threatened to shoot a bank teller if she did not comply with his demand for money.
