Pope John will appeal the NJSIAA’s suspension of its head football coach, Brian Carlson, according to a school spokesperson.
On Dec. 11, the NJSIAA Controversies Committee suspended Carlson for the first two weeks of the 2018 season as the result of a fight between Pope John and St. Joseph (Mont.) in the final seconds of their Non-Public, Group 3 semifinal on Nov. 18.
The committee also placed Pope John football on probation for next season and required that the school put in place a corrective action program to prevent future incidents. The school is not challenging that aspect of the …read more
