JERSEY CITY — Steve McGill, who joined the Jersey City Fire Department over 30 years ago, was sworn in as the fire chief at City Hall this morning.
“Today is the culmination of a long, hard journey to get to this point in my career,” McGill, 53, said to a crowd of family members, friends and firefighters assembled inside the council chambers.
McGill was previously a deputy and battalion chief, assistant fire director and department liaison to the city Office of Emergency Management.
