The state fish hatchery in Hackettstown has been around since 1912, but it has never had a year as productive as 2017.
The Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery, operated by the DEP’s Division of Fish and Wildlife, stocked more than 5 million fish in 2017, according to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
“This is an incredible achievement by our staff at the hatchery,” DEP Commissioner Bob Martin said.
