How will our incoming governor, Phil Murphy, tackle fixing NJ Transit, the state transportation agency that he labeled a “national disgrace”?
In outgoing Gov. Chris Christie’s final state-of-the-state address on Jan. 9, he glossed over all of NJ Transit’s deficiencies, ignoring its abysmal safety record. In 2016, federal data showed that its trains had 150 accidents in the previous five years, the worst record among U.S. commuter rail systems.
