Hitman who doc hired to kill his wife also tried to have him killed, cops say

A doctor accused of hiring a hit man to kill his wife had to be moved to another jail because of death threats made against him in the Atlantic County jail where he was being held.

James Kauffman, 69, the former endocrinologist who was charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife April Kauffman, appeared in Atlantic County court via video from North Jersey on Thursday and answered questions asked by Judge Bernard DeLury.
