Hackettstown police warn of computer scam after 78-year-old victimized

Hackettstown police are warning of a new scam after a 78-year-old borough man was victimized this week.

Police said the victim used a company called Core It for computer maintenance over the past two years.

On Tuesday, the man received a call from someone named Travis Carter, claiming the business’s license expired and the victim was due a refund.

The caller claimed the company’s bank was not located in the U.S., and they would need to deposit a certain amount in the victim’s bank account.
