Interviews of kids who say off-duty cop exposed himself can be used, judge rules

Video interviews of two boys who allege they saw an off-duty police officer expose himself in a Salem County restaurant restroom last year can be used at trial, a judge has ruled.

Richard D. Madden, defense attorney for Anthony Minguez, had sought to have the interviews suppressed, saying that they were “leading.”

But Pilesgrove Joint Municipal Court Judge Nicholas Lacovara Wednesday ruled that while the interviews of the boys, then ages 9 and 13, by police were “not a model for perfect questioning” they would be allowed in the trial for Minguez.
