A Lakewood man has been charged with setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s bed, police said in a statement Wednesday.
The woman returned to her Michelle Way home just after midnight Sunday to thick black smoke pouring from the third floor. The woman and her boyfriend suffered smoke inhalation before escaping the home.
Firefighters deemed the fire suspicious and contacted the Ocean County Fire Marshal and the prosecutor’s office, which determined the cause to be arson.
