After being held hostage by ice, Cape May ferry sails again

The Cape May-Lewes Ferry is sailing again.

Ice-bound for nearly a week, the MV New Jersey of the ferry fleet slipped out of the Cape May Canal and into the Delaware Bay for a round trip to Lewes, Del. at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The ferry set sail without incident, officials said. On board were 29 vehicles and 43 passengers. Among those vehicles were two tractor-trailers and an RV towing a boat headed for Florida.
