Tip from crime reporting app leads to arrest of fugitive

An anonymous tip sent in through the STOPit app helped police arrest Justin Tomlinson, 29, of Manville, who had skipped a court appearance on burglary charges, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.

The STOPit app can be used to submit tips and alert police to crimes. Somerset County began using the app in the fall.

Robertson said the tip came in to the Somerset County Communications Center at 1 a.m. on Friday, and included information on Tomlinson’s location.

Tomlinson, named a Somerset County Fugitive of the Week in December, was arrested by Manville police.
