Two weeks after switching political parties and a day after her opponents tried to get her removed from office, Melissa DeCastro was named Salem County freeholder director.
“I love Salem County. I think it is strong, I think it is beautiful and I think it is resilient and that resiliency is what will pull us through the hard times and into the next generation,” said Democrat DeCastro at the board’s reorganization meeting Wednesday.
DeCastro will lead a five-member board which was cut from seven freeholders last year thanks to a voter mandate.
