Duo charged with swiping $2M in stock certificates from dead woman

Two men, including one from New Jersey, stole $2 million from a dead New York City woman by assuming her identity, authorities said.

Stephen Decker, 59, of Secaucus, and Luis Mercado, 53, of New York City, have been indicted on charges of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for New York’s Southern District said in a statement Wednesday.
