A Wayne preschool teacher was fired for confining special education students in a bathroom.
A state arbitrator ruled on Nov. 20 that Donna DeMarco was guilty of the tenure charge of conduct unbecoming because she improperly confined the two students to a narrow classroom bathroom — consisting of a toilet, tiled walls, a metal shelf and a heavy door that opens inward — as a means of punishment or behavioral control.
