Cop settles ticket quota lawsuit against N.J. town for $650K

A Mendham Township police officer will receive $650,000 to settle his lawsuit claiming he was passed over for promotion he failed to profile and ticket younger drivers.

Patrol Officer Robert Wysokowski alleged in a whistle-blower lawsuit that starting in 2005 then-Sgt. Stephen Crawford advised him to target young drivers for motor vehicle stops in order to meet ticket quotas for the police department.

Wysokowski was allegedly told to “pull over any car with a group of young drivers,” and was ordered to look for vehicles with Morris County College parking permits on them, according to the lawsuit.
