$22K in cash, jewelry stolen from Jersey City apartment: police

A Jersey City man had left his apartment for just three hours, but that was more than enough time for a burglar to break in and get away with more than $22,000 in cash and valuables, Jersey City police said.

Police responded to a Stagg Street building between Kennedy Boulevard and Liberty Avenue at 6:50 p.m on Nov. 29, on a report of a burglary.

The victim told police that he left his apartment at 2:30 p.m. and when he returned three hours he found his apartment had been ransacked and his cash and jewelry was gone, the police report said.
