Just like Blanche DuBois in Tennessee William’s play “A Streetcar Named Desire,” many people today depend “on the kindness of strangers” to help them get by.
Kate McClure can attest to that.
The 27-year-old Florence Township woman was driving to Philadelphia to visit a friend, when her car began sputtering from a lack of gas as she turned off Interstate 95. Stranded and alone on a dark Philadelphia street, McClure was confronted by a homeless man with a long beard.
But instead of asking McClure to help him, the homeless man, 34-year-old Johnny Bobbitt, Jr., offered to help her.
