Driver dies days after deer smashed through car windshield

FRANKLIN TWP. — The 63-year-old driver who was struck by a deer Friday when it crashed through his windshield and landed in the back seat died Tuesday from his injuries, authorities said.

Mark Rodgers, of the Somerset section of Franklin, was driving on South Middlebush Road at 5:37 p.m. when his 2017 Hyundai Elantra collided with the deer as it was crossing the road, police said.

Rodgers was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. He died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
