Skiing at Mountain Creek in Vernon will have to wait until at least next weekend.
Mid-November temperatures that were consistently above freezing foiled an aspirational goal to launch the 2017/18 season after Thanksgiving, a spokesman for the resort explained.
“Our plan is to continue making snow at every opportunity we can,” said Evan Kovach, director of sales and marketing for Mountain Creek, said on Wednesday.
Snow-making machines generally require temperatures under 28 degrees, which is why workers at the resort have been firing them up in the colder, overnight hours.
