is more historic, and the fortress of Twin Lights at Highlands is more imposing.
But no New Jersey beacon exudes more charm than the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse in North Wildwood.
Built in 1874, the lighthouse looks like a seaside mansion from the street. The lighthouse is Stick-style — a uniquely American Gothic, that takes out the frills of Victorian-Era gingerbread and stays true to simple lines and eves — plain and elegant as a Presbyterian church.
