300 families receive Thanksgiving baskets in memory of slain cop

JERSEY CITY – It was a busy afternoon at the Bethune Center on Sunday as hundreds of families arrived to pick up Thanksgiving baskets in memory of a slain rookie officer.

The Detective Melvin Vincent Santiago Foundation distributed food to more than 300 families across Jersey City. The families were selected through the school system with help from officer Adrien Murrell, who works in school resource.
