Jersey City's Bravest pay tribute to firefighter killed in crash

The Jersey City Fire Department paid a solemn tribute this afternoon to a fellow firefighter who died in a car crash.

Fire trucks and vehicles lined Danforth Avenue and members of the department formed a path on the Greenville Memorial Home walkway as the body of Matthew Nierstedt was transported from the state Medical Examiner’s office in Newark.

The firefighters stood at attention and saluted as the body passed them on the way into the funeral home.
