Driver took prescription pills before fatal crash, indictment says

HOWELL — A Howell motorist took prescription pills before she fatally hit a 65-year-old township man who was sweeping out front of his home in 2015, an indictment said.

The indictment, returned by a grand jury in Monmouth County on Tuesday, charged Kathleen Mackey, who also goes by the name Kathleen George, with first-degree aggravated manslaughter, second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree causing death while driving unlicensed, said Charles Webster, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
