HAMILTON — A South Jersey man has been charged with aggravated manslaughter after allegedly punching a 54-year-old Good Samaritan trying to stop an assault at a bus stop earlier this month, officials said.
Calvin Wiggins was beating his girlfriend along Route 40 when passerby John Charlton exited his vehicle and told the 24-year-old to stop, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
Wiggins then punched Charlton, causing the older man to hit his head on the ground and lose consciousness, authorities said.
