HARRISON – An early morning fire tore through a section of the popular Pechter’s bread factory, leaving heavy damage to some of the company’s baking equipment.
The fire near the Ann Street and Manor Avenue intersection comes just as the facility is preparing to a heavy holiday rush.
At about 2 a.m., the Harrison Fire Department received multiple calls about a fire in the area. When crews arrived, they found 20-foot flames soaring from the roof of Pechter’s, Fire Director Harold Stahl said.
