Congratulations to all the winners in the recent election. The voter turnout in off-presidential election years has always been historically very low. This year was one of those years.
In Cumberland County, there are 89,420 registered voters, and 29,196 ballots were cast for the Nov. 7 election. Therefore, roughly one out of three registered voters participated in this election. The other two didn’t bother.
I hope the 60,224 apathetic registered voters who stayed home are satisfied with the results of the election. Your voices weren’t heard.
