'I earn every dime,' N.J. mayor says after vote that could double part-time salary

PLAINFIELD— The Plainfield City Council introduced an ordinance to nearly triple the salary of its members and double the mayor’s salary starting in 2018. The vote on Wednesday came just one day after the mayor and one council member were re-elected.

“There’s nothing part-time about my job. The hours that I put into my job here in Plainfield are beyond a full-time time job. I earn every dime,” said Mayor Adrian Mapp. “Salary should not be based on the history to determine compensation. It should be based on the value that the person brings to the position.”
