Frank Bottone, the longtime New Providence coach who finished his illustrious career as the winningest coach in Union County history, passed away on Thursday at the age of 86 after suffering a stroke, according to a report from TAPinto.com.
Bottone won eight state titles during his 48 years at the helm for New Providence, with a 334-125-7 record that makes him the fifth winningest coach in New Jersey high school football history.
After starring at Caldwell High School as a quarterback, he helped launch the New Providence football program in 1963 and led it to varsity status in 1965. …read more
