Did cops allow fellow off-duty officer to leave scene of fatal crash?

ELIZABETH — The family of a 29-year-old man killed last month in a motorcycle crash involving an off-duty Elizabeth police officer is questioning whether the cop was given preferential treatment and allowed to leave the scene by fellow responding officers.

The family of Jairo Lozano, who was killed in the Oct. 31 crash, wants to know if the officer who struck Lozano unlawfully left the scene of the wreck and whether he was given a sobriety test, said Josh McMahon, a Westfield-based attorney representing Lozano’s family.
