Christie appoints 9/11 responder to N.J.'s top health post

TRENTON — Christopher Rinn, a former paramedic who responded to the 1993 and 2001 World Trade Center terror attacks and forged a career handling public health emergencies, will lead the state Department of Health during the final two months of Gov. Chris Christie‘s tenure.

On Thursday, Rinn will replace Cathleen Bennett, the health commissioner until she became president of the New Jersey Hospital Association on Nov. 1, Christie’s office announced Wednesday.
