SALEM — Salem County voters Tuesday overwhelmingly said “No” to whether they want to fund a new courthouse.
The vote was 15,504 to 1,579 against.
The question voters were asked on the ballot was, “Are you in favor of construction of a new Salem County Courthouse at county taxpayer expense?”
The referendum is non-binding so any final decision to move forward with anything — a new courthouse or renovations to the current one — will be decided by county freeholders.
