ASBURY PARK — New Jersey Gov.-elect Phil Murphy entered Asbury Park Convention Hall a rock star and declared the “days of division” are over from the very spot where Gov. Chris Christie gave his re-election victory speech four years ago.
Two hours after news outlets called the election for Murphy over Republican rival Kim Guadagno, moments after the polls closed, Murphy thanked his supporters and said anyone who “has been knocked down, ignored and left behind” in the state “will never again walk alone.”
