WASHINGTON TWP. — They came to the funeral home to mourn their loved ones — their four-legged, faithful, furry loved ones — at the first Pet Loss Remembrance Event held at McGuinness Funeral Home on Sept. 21.
That night, 17 pet owners gathered to remember, honor and support one another over the loss of what they considered a family member.
According to McGuinness Community Outreach Manager Elisha Elliott, the loss of a pet can be just as traumatic as the loss of a loved one, yet there are few opportunities for pet owners to express and share their grief.
