County will replace 'obsolete' Almonesson Lake dam, bridge

DEPTFORD TWP. — Gloucester County will replace the 90-year-old bridge and dam at Almonesson Lake, officials announced Thursday.

The Cooper Street bridge and dam have been deemed functionally obsolete under state guidelines, officials explained. They will apply for federal funds to take on the multi-million dollar project.

After the work is complete — which could take 2 1/2 years — the county will be responsible for upkeep of the bridge and the township will be responsible for the dam.
