Jim Six, a writer and musician who was a longtime journalist at the Gloucester County Times — later the South Jersey Times — has died, his family announced Tuesday afternoon.
Six, who worked for the Times from 1984 to 2014, had been battling cancer.
During his years at the paper, he covered police and fire beats as well as wrote about the military.
A year after joining the Times, he began writing a popular column that often humorously detailed his experiences living in South Jersey and Philadelphia.
