Man in stable condition after shot in the torso, police say

SALEM— Salem Police are investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon that sent one man to the hospital.

Salem City Police Chief John Pelura III said that police received a call that a man was shot near Union Street in Salem City at 1:53 p.m. The 21-year-old victim was shot in the torso.

The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del., where he is listed in stable condition.

With assistance from the Lower Alloways Creek Police Department, Salem County Prosecutor’s Office and Salem County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit, officials recovered some evidence at the scene.
