In addition to selecting a new governor and members of the state Legislature next month, New Jersey voters will weigh in on two statewide ballot questions with significant impact on their daily lives.

One authorizes the state to borrow $125 million to help fund projects at local public libraries. The other amends the state’s Constitution to ensure that settlements from environmental contamination lawsuits go toward restoring areas damaged by pollution.

The questions’ subject matter may be totally dissimilar, but both can determine the quality of life in the Garden State for generations to come.
