With gate-keeper, Medicare can be for all; Warmongers abound on anti-Trump side | Feedback

After reading Paul Mulshine’s recent column, “Why Medicare for all would be a mistake,” Mulshine appears to be guilty of throwing out the baby with the bath water.

I agree with Mulshine that a stronger gate-keeper to prevent high-cost, medically unnecessary procedures is needed, but that is not the fault of the patients.

The United Kingdom’s single-payer/public-funded National Health Service has an extraordinarily strong gate-keeper system. This has permitted Great Britain to have coverage that works for all at about half the per-person cost of the U.S. system.
