Bookkeeper used PayPal to embezzle $1.6M from employer, feds say

The former bookkeeper for a New Jersey business was indicted Thursday on charge he stole about $1.6 million from his employer over a 10-year period using a PayPal account.

Peter Goodchild, 54, of Philadelphia, is charged with money laundering, aggravated identity theft, and filing false income tax returns, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Eastern Pennsylvania, said in a statement.

Goodchild, who worked at QwikSource, a cellular solutions company in Florham Park, opened a PayPal account in his employer’s name, authorities said. He then moved money from QwikSource’s bank account to that PayPal account and then to one belonging to his girlfriend, …read more
