Middle school "penny war" raises $589.48 for Hurricane Harvey relief

WASHINGTON TWP. – Proving that every penny counts, members of the Chestnut Ridge Middle School Student Council hosted a “penny war,” challenging their classmates to drop in their loose change into containers to benefit the victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. The effort yielded $589.48, that was counted at the magic money machine at Republic Bank and will be donated in the organization’s name.
