MEDFORD TWP. — The township has paid a police officer $150,000 to settle a racial discrimination lawsuit.
Medford officer Mark K. Hunsinger filed suit in 2014, claiming he was passed over for promotions and other opportunities because he is black.
He also described a hostile environment in the department in which officers deployed various racial and derogatory terms.
In his suit, Hunsinger sought both compensatory damages for the promotions he never received and punitive damages.
The settlement was first reported by open public records advocate John Paff.
