HACKENSACK — A section of Route 80 was closed Thursday night after a tanker truck overturned, leading to a fuel spill on the highway in Hackensack, officials said.
As of around 10:30 p.m., the highway’s westbound local and express lanes, east of Exit 65, were closed, according to the state Department of Transportation. The eastbound express lanes were also blocked.
Firefighters deployed foam on the spill, the Hackensack Fire Department said. Work to offload the tanker would likely take five to eight hours.
Two people were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with unspecified injuries.
