Clerk punched in face in Penns Grove liquor store robbery, police say

PENNS GROVE — Police say they are searching for a robber who hit a local liquor store at closing time Wednesday, attacked the clerk and then fled with cash.

According to Penns Grove Police Lt. Jason Spera, officers were called to Colonial Liquors at 215 S. Virginia Avenue around 10 p.m.

They were told that a male came into the store, jumped over the counter, punched the clerk twice in the face twice with his fist, took approximately $150 from the open cash register and fled.
