'48 Hours' revisits murder trial of N.J. teacher who killed ex-NYC cop (VIDEO)

MORRISTOWN — The CBS documentary program “48 Hours” will debut an hour-long episode Saturday on the Virginia Vertetis trial.

Vertetis, 55, was convicted of first-degree murder in April after a jury rejected her self-defense claim in the 2014 shooting of her ex-boyfriend, Patrick Gillhuley, at her Mount Olive home.

Entitled “Moment of Truth,” the episode includes the testimony of Gilhuley’s daughter, Jennifer, who was on the phone with him and heard the fatal shots being fired.

It shows Vertetis’ attorney, Ed Bilinkas, telling jurors that her only choice that night was, “Kill or be killed.”
